Taxiway Construction Project Summary

The MCRA has received a grant from the FAA to rehabilitate the taxiway and lighting system at the Airpark. This grant will cover phase 1 of construction which will cover the parallel taxiway from the mid-field north.

REHABILITATE PARALLEL TAXIWAY GOALS/BENEFITS:

  • Construct new parallel taxiway pavement from mid-field to Runway 14 threshold
  • Construct dual taxiways to Runway 14 at the north end
  • Construct new LED taxiway edge lights system (MITL)
  • Re-mark the taxiway centerline and hold lines at the proper location
  • Install new lighted hold position signs
  • Construct a PAPI for Runway 32

Taxiway Construction Project Coordination
The above project will be very beneficial to the airpark but will also present significant coordination during construction. The following is a brief summary of what to expect and we will have more information over the next few weeks.

PHASE 1 CONSTRUCTION: May 15 – July 15
(weather dependent) AIRPARK IMPACTS:

  • Parallel taxiway closed from mid-field to exit Taxiway E
  • Back-taxiing required on Runway 14 – 32
  • Touch-and-go operations prohibited
  • Additional construction work will be at the north end of the airport
  • Runway 14-32 will be closed intermittently on 10 nights (10 pm until 7 am)

PHASE 2 CONSTRUCTION: July 15 – August 15
(weather dependent) AIRPARK IMPACTS:

  • Parallel taxiway closed from mid-field to the Runway 14 threshold
  • Overflow apron (Runway 14 end parking) closed
  • Back-taxiing required on Runway 14 – 32
  • Touch-and-Go operations prohibited
  • Runway 14-32 will be closed intermittently for 10 nights (10 pm until 7 am)
